The IAPB Standard List has now added Peek Vision which includes their products the Peek Retina and App. It is a well-known fact that more than 285 million people globally are visually impaired, 39 million are blind and 80% of that is avoidable. An estimated 2.5 billion people are unable to see as well as they could because they have no way of accessing basic care or treatment. The Peek team is working with partners, including IAPB in the UK and globally to change this.
The Peek Retina is a smartphone based ophthalmoscope that enables retina imaging through a dilated pupil. The device is easy to use and converts any smartphone into a retina camera under 30 seconds. The professional user can capture retina images on their smartphone and can immediately use the images to share with other professionals for diagnosis purposes. Diseases such as glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and age related macular degeneration can be diagnosed using the device. Peek Retina has won two platinum awards in the 2017 European Product Design Awards.
The Peek Acuity Pro allows anyone to measure visual acuity, which is one of the components of vision. It is designed by eye care professionals to be used to help identify people who need further examination by, for example, an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
